About The Unpublished

What is this?

The Unpublished is a platform for interior designers to give unpublished work a place to shine. Whether projects were too personal, too experimental, or simply a bad fit for an editorial calendar or season — the work is still beautiful, it took the same effort, and it deserves to be seen. Some of the most interesting design work never gets published, not because it isn't good enough, but because it doesn't fit the commercial imperatives of traditionally published media. We built this platform to change that — a place to share it, be proud of it, and let it find the audience it always deserved.

For Designers

If you're an interior designer with completed residential or commercial projects, you can apply for an account. We're looking for work that demonstrates craft, thoughtfulness, and a point of view.

Once approved, you'll be able to publish stories on your own terms. Upload images, write about your process and intentions, credit collaborators, and share the work with a community of peers and enthusiasts.

Principles

  • No social features. The Unpublished is not a social network. There are no likes, comments, or follower counts. It's a publication, not a popularity contest.
  • Credits are mandatory. Photography and styling are integral to how design is communicated. Everyone who contributes to a story is credited and linked.
  • Quality over quantity. We're not interested in volume. We're interested in considered, thoughtful work. Designers can publish as often or as rarely as they like.
  • Chronological, not algorithmic. Stories appear in the order they're published. There's no feed optimization, no engagement metrics, no gaming the system.

Who We Are

The Unpublished was built from a simple observation: the vast majority of interior design projects are never published — not because they aren't worthy, but because there was nowhere for them to go.

Oliver Lubin

Oliver Lubin

Oliver oversees all technology, construction, and development at Ellerslie Interiors, the Nashville-based design firm he runs alongside his wife, Laura. Working closely with clients on their homes over the years, he came to see residential design as the ultimate form of product development — what you deliver is something a person lives inside every single day. No software, no consumer product comes close to that level of daily human contact. Prior to making the switch to Ellerslie, Oliver co-founded thredUP, the online resale platform, where for a decade he served as Chief Creative Officer and Chief Innovation Officer.

Laura Lubin

Laura Lubin

Laura is the founder and principal designer of Ellerslie Interiors, named an Architectural Digest Featured Designer for 2026. Based in Nashville, her work has been recognized across leading design and lifestyle publications for its thoughtfulness, restraint, and the way it makes spaces feel real and approachable rather than assembled and precious. She lives in Nashville with Oliver and their daughter Emery, who is quickly becoming an integral part of the team, and who has very strong opinions about interior design for a nine-year-old.
