About The Unpublished
What is this?
The Unpublished is a platform for interior designers to share work that hasn't appeared in magazines — projects that are too personal, too experimental, or too specific to fit traditional editorial frameworks.
We believe that some of the most interesting design work never gets published. Not because it's not good enough, but because it doesn't fit the commercial imperatives of print media.
For Designers
If you're an interior designer with completed residential or commercial projects, you can apply for an account. We're looking for work that demonstrates craft, thoughtfulness, and a point of view.
Once approved, you'll be able to publish stories on your own terms. Upload images, write about your process and intentions, credit collaborators, and share the work with a community of peers and enthusiasts.
Principles
- No social features. The Unpublished is not a social network. There are no likes, comments, or follower counts. It's a publication, not a platform.
- Credits are mandatory. Photography and styling are integral to how design is communicated. Everyone who contributes to a story is credited and linked.
- Quality over quantity. We're not interested in volume. We're interested in considered, thoughtful work. Designers can publish as often or as rarely as they like.
- Chronological, not algorithmic. Stories appear in the order they're published. There's no feed optimization, no engagement metrics, no gaming the system.
Who We Are
The Unpublished was founded by Oliver and Laura, former editors at architectural publications who grew frustrated with the limitations of traditional editorial models.
